Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale Purchases

I’ve neglected my blog for quite a few months, but I’m back and hopefully can start writing more frequently.
I will be sharing some of my favorite items from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale as well as of my purchases from this year. Last week was the pre-sale where only card holders had access to sale items; the sale is now open to the general public and prices will go up on August 8.
I placed several orders over the last week and have been slowly receiving them in the mail - I still have quite a bit of things I’m waiting for.

I want to remind everyone to shop the sale through EBATES where you can earn 6% cash back on Nordstrom purchases. Through my orders in the past week, I have already received $42 back.

First up is the Cole Haan Marina Over the Knee boots  ($329 from $500)I purchase these last year during the sale and it quickly became one of my favorite pair of boots. These are a stiletto heel, which is not great for cobble stone streets in  Boston, but the smaller 3.5 inch heel balances it out, making them more wearable. These are about 23 inches tall, and have a VERY small opening of only 13 inches, making them ideal for women with smaller/slim calves. They run slim all the way through the legs and fit tightly around my legs. These are extremely versatile - you can dress them up with a dress of dress them down for a more casual look with leggings and an oversized sweater.

I'm wearing the Halogen Noble Boot here with

Next up - Halogen Noble Over the Knee Boots ($109 from $189) I’ve been looking for a replacement pair of over the knee boots with chunky heels. I had a pair, but I think my foot grew and they are no longer fitting. I have only worn them a few times and just listed them on my Poshmark page. Last week, I ordered the Halogen Noble Over the Knee Boots since they were on sale for only $109. They arrived in the mail earlier this week, I loved them so much, I ordered the gray pair as well.

These fit true to size, They are not as slim fitting as the Cole Haans mentioned above, but they still look great on bare legs and have room for jeans tucked inside on those colder days.

Moving on to ankle boots - these are always a struggle for me. Vince Camuto Feina ($99 from $159) ankle booties in Khaki Suede. I have tiny ankles and always feel like ankle boots look weird on me because there’s either too much gapping around my ankles or too tight and make my calves look big. Perhaps it’s just me. Anyways, I LOVED the way the boots looked online and snagged a pair before they sold out. The color was amazing, however, the ankle was a little wider than I liked and also had no structure, so flopped around my ankles a bit. I already returned these. I so wish these worked out! I want a light colored pair of boots with a smaller heel for walking that can be paired with dresses and pants - please make any suggestions of booties you have/like!

I ordered the Cole Haan Hayes Block Heel Booties ($186 from $280) in both Storm Cloud and Black. I really like the shape of the boot and the little strap and gold buckle detailing, however these did not work for me. I did not like the straight cut of the ankle because it cut my my legs awkwardly and made them look short. *SIGH*

Now on to handbags: The Longchamp Expandable Pliage Bag ($129 from $195).  I purchased this in the eggplant colors (dark purple). This also comes in all black, light blue, grey and a white. This is a replacement for my large navy one which now has small holes in the corners and is starting to tear on the inside (not bad considering I had that bag since 2007). The large is a little too big as an everyday bag, but I love this expandable one - you can zip it up to use as a medium size Pliage, and when traveling, you can unzip to expand and have a large Pliage (see pictures below for reference).
Here is my collection of Longchamps: egg plant expandable, green travel size expandable, red expandable, blue large pliage
I purchase the red version of this back in 2010 during the anniversary sale, and then purchased the navy version last year to give to my mom. This is definitely a must have for frequent travelers! The colors are running out online, but there were still many left at my local store yesterday, so be sure to head to a store if you don’t see the one you like online.
I use my navy large Pliage for work

Now onto clothing items and accessories:

I tried on the Socialist Cowl Neck Shift Dress ($24.90 from $38.00) in S in the olive green color and loved the way it looked. It was a bit big, so I ordered this in the XS. This is going to be a great transition piece from summer to fall...now all I need are a pair of ankle booties to pair with this!

I also wanted to share these two scarves I purchased even though they are currently sold out. They are part of the anniversary sale for $18 from $36. I'm sure as the fall approaches they will be re-stocked and more styles will arrive. The scarf on the left is thick and heavy; the scarf on the right is significantly lighter and thinner, which is actually perfect for the fall.

Have you shopped the anniversary sale yet? I'd love to hear what you have purchased!  Happy shopping everyone!
